Basics of Christianity - Christian Beliefs

The Christian religion has at its core a few basic beliefs and statements of faith that underlie everything else.  Christian Advice Site strives to be a non-denominational/cross-denominational website welcoming people from every church, religion, and walk of life.  We do, however, hold these essential statements of faith to be the truth and necessary to a true Christian life.

  • We believe in the Holy Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are three parts of the one true God.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, existing as the Word of God from the beginning, and being born of a virgin to become the Savior of mankind as prophesied in the scripture.  He was condemned, crucified on the cross, resurrected, and ascended to the right hand of God.  Through His blood shed at the crucifixion, he paid the debt of sacrifice for all sins that we might be forgiven.  The gift of salvation cannot be won through works, but through faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice.
  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God.  In the Bible, we are offered the tenets as God would have us to live in His will.
  • We believe the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the gift of Salvation to be freely available to all who accept it.  We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of the Lord.  What God offers freely, no man can take away.
  • We believe in the concept of free will.  Each person must accept in his or her own heart the Salvation of Jesus Christ.  We are all free to seek His heart, to look for answers, and to ask questions so we may discover the truth of God in ourselves.

The role of Christian evangelism and witness is to aid, inform, and guide others to Christ.  The Christian Advice Site welcomes everyone who wishes to know more about the God we serve no matter your current religion, beliefs, or professions of faith.

guilt

I know God casts our sins as far as the east is from the west when we confess our sins to Him and He forgives us. I know that His forgiveness is sufficient. To wallow in doubt and guilt after we have been forgiven by God is not right, for we should be basking in the glow of His grace. He's forgiven me, that settles it.

When we sin, we sin against God. God has the power to forgive sin. We should not wallow in guilt and shame after we receive His forgiveness. BUT, what if our sin affects another person?? Should we carry guilt even if God has forgiven our sin? is the guilt i feel in this situation caused by the Holy Spirit dealing with me to "make things right" with the party affected by my sin?? if i offer an apology to another and they fail to accept that apology, should i still carry such guilt??

i'm wrestling with this in my life right now. some Christian advice would be very helpful and your prayer would be truly a blessing.
