The Christian Advice Site would like to express our deepest sympathies for the Chapman family.  Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman lost his youngest daughter on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in an accident at the family home.  The 5-year-old girl was in the driveway of the home when Chapman's son ran over her in an SUV, killing Maria Sue Chapman.  According to a CBN interview with the Chapman's minister, Will Chapman was driving the vehicle.

The loss of a child is a parent's worst nightmare.  Please keep the Chapman family, and especially their son Will, in your fervent prayers.  Pray that the family will find strength together in this time of tragedy.  Marie was one of six Chapman children, and the youngest of the three adopted children.

Prayers and support may be addressed to the Chapman family on their website

Eerily, Chapman recently told of how his daughters inspired his song "Cinderella":

in a times like this you can only say to yourself thank god for the time i had, not the time i lost..we live our life for what we have to do tommorow not thinking about what we have to do to day..its not all about the things of this world, its the things of god that will fill us ..remember if you want to see the eyes of god look into the eyes of your kids...

When I first heard about the going home of Marie my heart first cried for Will and somehow oddly I instantly thought this young beautiful little girl must have completed her task here on earth that God wanted her home so young. Will, we are all praying for you and God most of all knows your pain, don't blame yourself and most importantly don't blame God. Know that the comforting arms of the Father are outstretched to cradle you and demonstrate His love for you. May God keep you in His perfect peace and remember 1 Peter 5:7

There are lessons for all of us in the Steven Curtis Chapman double tragedy where the youngest son accidentally kills the youngest daughter. How do you deal with such grief? With faith, hope and love. That explains my essay, which if you wish, you can read here: Good Grief! Steven Curtis Chapman, please dont be Sue-sad (http://frankahilario.blogspot.com/).
